Expert Witness – Example of Cases

Here are examples of cases that have involved Richard as an expert witness:

Young children were removed from the care of their natural parents due to concerns about emotional and physical neglect. When the local authority started proceedings for adoption, the natural parents applied to have the children returned to their care on the basis that their parenting had improved substantially. Richard provided a Parenting Assessment to the court, with advice for the children’s future care arrangements.

Following an acrimonious divorce, a young child resided with her natural mother. The non-custodial father applied to have direct contact with his child but the mother refused on the grounds the he was an unfit parent. The father contested the justification of her refusal and sought authority for direct contact. Richard gave recommendations to the court about the suitability, or otherwise, of the father having direct contact with his child.

After a couple’s children were taken into the care of the local authority, they became subject to proceedings for adoption. The natural parents sought to have direct contact with their children post-adoption. The adoptive parents opposed this. Richard provided a Psychological Report which gave recommendations to the court about the suitability, or otherwise, of the natural parents to have direct contact with their children post-adoption.

A young child alleged her father abused her, and the father was refused further contact. He claimed that the mother coached the child to lie. Years later, the father asks for the original interview in which the child made the allegation to be re-analysed, as he wanted to resume contact with her. The mother would not allow her to be re-interviewed. Richard analysed the original interview transcript and advised the court about the reliability of the child’s evidence at that time.
